A Message from the Chief

We have proudly served our community as volunteer firefighters since 1982.  Our thanks go to retiring Fire Chief Gary Castagnetti for his persistent and successful efforts to upgrade our services and capabilities over the past decade.

His legacy includes upgrading our fire engines and equipment, establishing an automatic aid program with Graeagle Fire Protection District, and establishing a joint training program.  Gary served for 43 years both career and vounteer roles in the California Fire Service, and he will be missed.

Another major force in helping our Fire Department is the Plumas Eureka Community Services District Auxiliary ("PECAUX").  They have raised funds for many years through two pancake breakfast events and related activities.  The money has gone towards acquiring equipment and supporting our firefighters with an annual recognition dinner among many other things.

We are actively recruiting for new volunteer firefighters - please contact me at (530) 836-1085 or at (redacted) if you are interested.  You may serve in an emergency role as a firefighter, or as a support team member providing non-emergency services.  For example, we need help in recruiting, marketing, fire prevention and public education, through the link on their page here, and helping in events.

Thanks very much for your ongoing support!
