Before joining the Plumas Eureka Fire Department John spent 34 years working for a large insurance company in the San Francisco bay area. He was a systems engineer crisscrossing the states installing computer systems and providing on-site technical support. Prior to launching his carreer, he spent four years in the Air Force, one of those years in Vietnam. When John retired in 2002, he continued his passion for team roping full time but now swings a golf club instead of a rope. The extra time he now has is devoted to the links and to the Plumas Eureka Fire Department. In the period of time he has been with PEFD, John has become an Emergency Medical Responder and graduated from the Fire Academy. He added that he has learned a great deal from a terrific group of experience firefighters. "I joined PEFD because I have a great desire to help people," he said.. "John is an outstanding volunteer for us - he lives right across the street from the fire house, and has been willing to pitch in with anything that is needed." commented former PEFD Fire Chief Tom Forster.
John was promoted to Chief in July of 2018.
